Daniel D Homolka

February 21, 1958 — October 17, 2024

Twin Falls

Daniel Dean Homolka passed away peacefully on October 17, 2024, in Twin Falls, Idaho, at the age of 66. Born in Grand Island, Nebraska, on February 21, 1958. Daniel's life was marked by a deep love for his family, an unwavering commitment to hard work, and an enduring passion for helping others.

Daniel was the cherished son of Rudolph Joseph Homolka and Carolyn Louise Homolka. Daniel grew up surrounded by the values that would guide him throughout his life. A gifted athlete, he excelled in football, track and field, and wrestling during his high school years. His competitive spirit and dedication on the field were matched by his love for the thrill of speed, which found expression in his lifelong passion for hot rods, particularly his 1968 Chevrolet Camaro.

Daniel's greatest pride and joy were his children: Raymond Homolka, Danielle Homolka-Maxfield, Karleen Homolka, and Peter Moriarty. Between his four children he was blessed with 9 grandchildren, whom he loved and adored very much. He shared with all of them his love of cars, his dedication to family, and his belief in living a life filled with integrity and kindness. Though his marriage to the love of his life, Rita Marie Lewis ended in divorce, they shared a special bond through the love they both had for their children and grandchildren, despite their hardship, they had forged an everlasting friendship.

Daniel's work ethic was impeccable, a quality he inherited from his father and honed through various roles as a farm hand, mechanic, welder, and machine operator. Each job was more than a means to an end; it was a testament to his determination and a reflection of his honest and hardworking character.

Those who had the privilege to know Daniel knew a man with unwavering compassion. He was the kind of person who would give his last dollar to someone in need, always prioritizing others above himself. His strength and resilience was unrivaled and his gentle heart was a beacon of hope for everyone fortunate enough to cross his path.

Daniel was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Carolyn Homolka, his sister Carliene Gillespie, and his brother  David Homolka. He is survived by his father, Rudolph Homolka, and his siblings Katharyn Crow, Barbara Engle, Michael Homolka and Katreena Homolka.

In a world that often measures success by wealth or status, Daniel's legacy is one of kindness, honesty, and an unyielding spirit. He lived a life of purpose, always true to himself and those he loved. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

As we lay Daniel to rest, we remember Daniel's love for the open road and the cars he cherished, knowing he is now at peace, steering through the highways of eternity.

In lieu of flowers, Daniel's family asks that you honor his memory by performing an act of kindness for someone in need, reflecting the selfless and giving nature that Daniel exemplified throughout his life.
