Cynthia Jacqueline Plastino

January 13, 1950 — July 20, 2011

Cynthia Jacquelyne Plastino, 61 of Twin Falls passed away Thursday, July 21, 2011 at her home. She was born January 13, 1950 in Santa Monica, CA the daughter of Felix and Edythe Plastino. “Jackie” Plastino loved learning, as well as teaching, and her professors and students would say she was adept at both. She attended the University of Idaho and received her bachelor’s of Spanish and later continued her education at the University of Arizona where she earned her Masters Degree in ESL. Though she loved teaching at Twin Falls High School, her first love was adventure… traveling to new places, engaging with people, going camping or hiking, and kayaking wherever there was water. A consummate explorer at heart, Jackie set out to experience the beauty of this planet in a way that few people ever do, capturing it all on film so as to share it with others. All one has to do is look at her photographs to see her positive and optimistic outlook on life itself, so full of wonder and diversity, much like herself. All in all, she covered 5 continents in her travels, learning 4 languages in the process, and befriending more people than could possibly be counted. Not only did she explore externally, but within herself as well. Her spirituality was so much a part of her life that she embodied it. She was a teacher and an inspiration to all those who knew her. Jackie definitely created her own path. None who knew her would call her a follower, except to say she followed her dreams. She will be missed by so many, but if one’s death mirrors one’s life, there’s no doubt that Jackie has new horizons to explore, and undoubtedly there’s a kayak paddle in her hand and a smile on her face. Jackie is survived by her family and her many friends to numerous to mention. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 30, 2011 at the Rock Creek Park in the Heider Pavilion.
