Cecelia Hansen

June 24, 1943 — July 14, 2024

Buhl, Idaho

Cecelia "Snooky" or "Cec" (Hartnett) Hansen on Sunday, July 14, 2024, our family lost one of the strongest women we have known. Surrounded by her family and dearest friend Linda, Grams left this earth to a better place, where there is no pain, endless fountain Cokes, and an enormous supply of chocolate.

Cec was known by many names. Growing up with cousins she was Snooky, to her beloved grandchildren she was Grams, and to those she befriended at Grace Assisted Living she was CeCe.

Cec was born in Nampa, ID to Cecil Lloyd Bledsoe and Flora Ellen Riggs. Her mother Flora married Gorton Earl Hartnett in 1946 where he became like a father to Cec. Gorton officially adopted Cec on July 22, 1959, when she was sixteen years old.

Cec grew up in Weiser, ID and was always surrounded by family and friends. She and one of her cousins, Ronnie Riggs, were especially close. She always kept in touch with Ronnie up until his death a few years ago. Ronnie was stricken with Polio at a very young age and Cec for a long time believed he contracted it by holding a fuzzy caterpillar the day before he was diagnosed.

She attended school from kindergarten to eighth grade in the one room Haas School in Weiser. She always got excellent or good remarks on her report cards, which were found in her personal scrapbook album. Cec graduated from Weiser High School in 1961.

In the early part of her adult life, Cec lived in Weiser, ID, she later moved to Boise and eventually ended up in Twin Falls, ID. Cec met Robert Verl Hansen when she started working in his accounting office. They were married on January 11, 1980.

Cec was an excellent book and record keeper. Most of her jobs included some type of bookkeeping or accounting. She could operate a ten-key pad equally well with either her left or right hand. Cec was the mother of two sons, Shawn Michael Barrutia and Kevin Eugene Hansen. Through her marriage to Verl, she became the stepmother of three children Bobette Hansen, Cole Hansen, and Brandi (Hansen) Pasquale. Cec's two sons provided her with five grandchildren, Michael, Maranda, Katie, Cody, and Curtis. She also loved and adored her other nine grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Cec loved pictures. If something was happening, you would find her behind the camera, snapping photos galore. She made sure family pictures were taken every year and made it a point to include everyone who was able to attend. Picture day was usually followed by good food and family games which always included a washer board tournament. Family was very important to Cec. The last 20 plus years of her life she would make a picture scrapbook for each of her children and grandchildren as part of their Christmas gift.

Cec also enjoyed working outside when her health allowed her to do so. She enjoyed the warm weather of Idaho much more than the colder winter months. A few of the winters Cec and Verl spent time in Arizona with their very close friends, Ron and Linda Crockett.

Cec is survived by her sister, Debi (Hartnett) Mundell; son, Kevin Eugene Hansen; sister-in-law, Catherine Mann Hartnett; daughter-in-law, Maureen (Neville) Sharp; daughter-in-law, Debbie (Baggett) Barrutia and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Cec is proceeded in death by her husband, Robert Verl Hansen, her mother, Flora Ellen Riggs, her father, Earl Gorton Hartnett, brother, Randy Hartnett, son, Shawn Michael Barrutia, stepdaughter, Bobette Hansen, and step-grandson, Cassidy (Cass) Hansen.

The family would like to express their love and appreciation to Cec's best friend Linda Crockett. When Cec fell and broke her hip, Linda packed up her bags and came south to stay with her "sister." Their relationship was rare, honest and fun!! Sometimes God gives us family in various ways, and he blessed them both with a beautiful friendship.
