Catherine Schmidt Stewart passed away July 26, 2011, in Kimberly, Idaho where she was born to William C. and Ollie Fry Schmidt on September 25, 1920. She graduated from Kimberly High School in 1938 and worked at J.C. Penny Company in the clothing alterations department. On August 30, 1940, Catherine married F. Raymond Stewart and as a farmer’s wife she painted, created prize-winning ceramics, made and sold leather goods, taught sewing, and raised gladiolus. Her talents were shared through 4-H, Kim-Sen Extension Homemakers Club, Twin Falls garden Club, and the Idaho Department Store Gift Wrap Service. Catherine is survived by her sister Frances (Jack) Butler of Kimberly, niece Sonnie (Ray) Strolberg, nephews David (Shelly) Butler, Bryce Butler, Darrell (Cindy) Schmidt, Kelvin Schmidt, and Royal (Thu) Hardy. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray Stewart, brothers Lee Schmidt, Jack (Luella) Schmidt, infant sister and a nephew Brian (Betty) Schmidt. The family thanks the very caring and professional staff at Oak Creek Rehabilitation Center of Kimberly and Mountain View Center for Geriatric Psychiatry, as well as Dr. Mary Beth Curtis and her nurse, Kaitlyn. A graveside service will be conducted at Sunset Memorial Park on August 1st at 11 a.m. with Rev. Gary Ross of the Kimberly Crossroads Methodist Church officiating, followed by a hospitality hour at Rosenau Community Room, 2826 Addison Ave. E., Twin Falls.
