Carolyn Kaye Rogers (Carol), 68, of Eden, Idaho peacefully went to meet her heavenly father on Saturday April 21, 2018. Carol passed away in Twin Falls, Idaho at St. Luke's Medical Center.
Carol was born November 20, 1949 in Mountain Home, Arkansas to Melvin and Euna Rife. The second of five children, Carol grew up in the Magic Valley where she attended and graduated from Valley High School in Eden, Idaho. Carol worked many years in the agriculture industry where she made countless friends and could always be counted on to tell a great joke and listen to stories. In her spare time, she could be found tending bar around the valley. For many years she was an avid and skilled pool player, winning many tournaments and championships.
January 12, 1991 Carol married Bob Rogers and the two settled in Eden, Idaho. They loved to fish together and had planned to discover new fishing holes this summer and see new parts of Idaho neither had seen before. Carol loved to read, shoot pool and do crossword puzzles. She enjoyed watching movies and musicals and especially loved movies starring Johnny Depp. It was never hard to talk her into a quick trip to Jackpot, where she loved to play the slots. She also loved visiting her favorite horses. She said "Horses are God's answer for a hurting heart." Carol could always be found enjoying a card or dice game with family and loved playing Words with Friends (she really loved to win).
One of Carol's proudest moments was holding her grandson when he was born. She loved to tell the story about setting off the brand new alarm system in the Lewiston hospital and making the news. Her pride and joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandson. She would tell her granddaughter that she "had her heart" they weren't just words to her. She truly loved her family. That heart will be missed.
Carol is survived by her husband Bob, her daughter Cheryl Rife Willard (Doug), her siblings, Betty Rice, Gayle Rogers, Debbie Kelso (Hal) and Jonathan Rife; stepson, Bobby Rogers, grandchildren, Tanner Ball (Ranee) and Karly Ball, Ella and Branson Rogers and great grandson Oliver Ball, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Carol was preceded in death by her mother and father Euna and Melvin Rife, Brothers-in-law James Rogers and Verl Rice, Nephew Joshua Kelso and many aunts, uncles and relatives
A believer in Christ, Carol had a long-standing relationship with her heavenly father, and was an active member of the Church of Christ. She was a loving daughter, mother, grandma, granny, sister, aunt and friend. She touched the lives of all she met, and will be missed by all who knew her.
At her request no service will be held. A celebration of her life and love will be planned for this summer with family and friends (details to be determined). Friends and family are encouraged to leave a message, or two, with a story or shared memory on her memory wall at www.rosenausfuneralhome.com.
