Bruce L. Bulcher of Kimberly, Idaho passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at St. Luke's Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Twin Falls on May 23, 1944 to Louis and LaVon Bulcher and was the first of their six children.
Bruce was raised on the family farm off of Falls Ave. and attended school in Kimberly where he played basketball for 4 years. His JR year the Bulldogs won the District Championship. Bruce graduated HS in May of 1962. He attended the University of Idaho and was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity majoring in Agricultural Science. Upon his graduation in 1967, Bruce joined the Army and was stationed in Italy. He was an officer working in a communication facility and enjoyed playing basketball on the military team. After he returned home from the service, he worked in Boise for the Idaho State Personnel Department. Soon after, Bruce decided to come back to Kimberly and begin farming with his father on the family farmstead and eventually on his own, South of Kimberly. It was at this time he met the love of his life, Kathy Jo O'Dell. On August 14, 1982, they eloped to Reno, Nevada.
As the size of their farm increased, so did the size of their family. Bruce and Kathy raised their four children on the farm South of Kimberly and Bruce worked hard to make his farm one of beauty and prosperity. Bruce was a long-time member of the Board of Directors for the Kimberly Methodist Church, and was involved in the Kimberly Boosters Club for many years. Most recently he sat on the Board of Directors for The Amalgamated Sugar Co. He spent countless hours supporting his children at many different sporting events and passed on his love for the outdoors through numerous camping trips. Bruce loved to read and was a wealth of knowledge, of which his children constantly tested, trying to stump him. After 35 years of farming, Bruce retired giving him and Kathy time to travel, and have many adventures together with friends. He loved and adored his grandchildren and “Grandpa Bruce” will be terribly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and LaVon and one sister, Linda. He is survived by his three brothers and one sister: Doug (Betsy), Rod (Brenda), Mark (MarJean) and Rhonda (Darlene) plus his five children: Michael Childress, Matthew (Lindsey), Rachel (Mark) Ward, Daniel (Kalla) and Katherine (Cody) Christensen.
