Brent Dwayne Dame, 65, of Hansen, Idaho, passed away peacefully at home on October 23, 2023, after a five year battle with Younger Onset Alzheimer’s Disease.
Brent was born on January 31, 1958, to Clyde Dame and Maxine Dame in Owensboro, Kentucky. He was a graduate of McLean County High School and the University of Kentucky with a bachelor’s degree in animal nutrition.
Brent met his wife, Patricia (Patty) Crandall while attending graduate school at California State University, Fresno and they were married on Valentine’s Day in 1987. Brent and Patty have 3 children, Mitchell, Nicholas, and Leslie.
Brent was a farmer his entire life and worked hard to grow a diverse range of crops. His love for animals, especially pigs, took him all over the world and his connections in the swine industry are immense. He also worked several jobs throughout his lifetime from selling life insurance, livestock feed and as an agronomist. He also worked as a substitute teacher, refereed basketball and football, and coached multiple sports teams. Brent was an avid sports fan and never missed a game of his beloved Kentucky Wildcats. One of his favorite sports endeavors was helping to establish the Upward Sports Program at Twin Falls Nazarene Church. Watching his children excel at their sports as well as seeing Leslie perform in her musicals were the absolute loves of his life.
The family would like to express their gratitude and thanks to all the very special caregivers that helped with Brent, as well as St. Luke’s Hospice Staff who treated Brent with so much respect and learned quite quickly his teasing ways. Also, to Dr. Steven Kohtz who walked Patty and Brent through this journey from beginning to end.
Brent was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Dame and Maxine Dame and is survived by his wife of 36 years, sons, Mitchell (wife Kari) Dame; Nicholas Dame (girlfriend Madi) and daughter, Leslie Dame. He is also survived by his sister, Sherrie (Mike) Lee and a brother, Larry (Vickey) Dame and many nieces, nephews and a great niece.
