Carl “Bill” William Blass Jr. of Filer, passed away June 4, 2021. He was born May 6, 1955, the son of Bill and Glenna (Hostetler) Blass. Born and raised, he was the 4th generation in the Magic Valley.
Bill married his high school sweetheart, Marcella Sligar, on February 16, 1979. During their marriage, Bill carried on the family tradition of farming by creating his company, B.B.J Farms, which became one of the largest potato operations in Idaho. Together they raised one Daughter and one Son. Bill grew up in the 4H and FFA programs. His love for these programs started the “Blass Hereford Ranch”, introducing his children to his love for cattle and horses.
Bill had a natural talent for sharing stories and having everyone around him laughing. He had many other hobbies that he enjoyed, some of which included being an amazing water skier, or singing and dancing to his own beat. His funny and passionate personality will be missed by all who knew him.
Bill’s biggest and most proud achievements were his 2 children, Amanda Dastrup, and Zachary Blass. Whether it was a quick pick-up truck window conversation on the side of the road with his son as they were passing in different directions, or stopping at his daughters for a quick snack and a hug, Bill cherished every bit of time he spent with them.
