On December 11, 2013 one day short of her 75th birthday, Barbara went to rest in the arms of her Lord and Savior. Barbara was born on December 12, 1938 in Twin Falls, Idaho to Everett and Kathrine Veatch. She was the second of four children and spent most of her childhood in Filer with her brothers, Jim and Bob, and sister Margery, who was her best friend throughout her life. As a teenager, Barbara met and fell in love with a young man named Alvin and it wasn’t long before they were married and started a family. Throughout their life they built several family homes in Jerome and Twin Falls in which they openly shared with family, friends and those in need. Barbara was a loving mother, grandmother, and an active member of the Twin Falls Seventh-day Adventist Church. Family and friends meant the world to Barbara and she loved having those she cared about staying in her home and visiting with her. The opportunity to have a house full of happy and laughing family was one of her greatest treasures. Barbara always had a special connection with animals. She loved watching the horses throughout the years in her pasture. She was also very fond of the occasional wildlife that would wander onto the land, getting enjoyment out of watching the deer as well as the foxes with their kits. With Al, they took in many cats and dogs throughout the years, giving them a loving home and always caring for them. Her cats will greatly miss her. Barbara is survived by her sister, Margery (Dale) Jordan, brother, Bob (Charleen) Veatch, daughter, Diane (John) Wiersema, daughter, Debbie (Tim) Vawser, son, Doug, and daughter, Dalene (Dave) Hanchey, ten grandchildren: John, Chris, and Sara Wiersema, Steve and Jake Vawser, David, Taisha, Kate, Tess and Alexa Gregg, five great-grandchildren: Byron, Cedric and Elysa Gregg, Nia & Nina Wiersema, one soon-to-be great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Al, and brother and sister-in-law Jim and Sheila Veatch. A memorial service will be held at the Seventh Day Adventist Church on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family would like to request donations be made to the Twin Falls Animal Shelter at http://twinfallsanimalshelter.com/donations/ or mail to People for Pets
