Barbara Lee Sanchez, age 54, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 1, 2024. Barbara was born in 1969, in Walnut Creek, California, where she spent her childhood with loving parents, Mike Valdez and Virginia Galindo. Barbara moved to Twin Falls in 1984, where she met Tony Sanchez over a strategic game of hacky sack. They were married in 1986 and began the journey of making a loving family. Barbara was selfless throughout life. She always put others ahead of herself, even in her careers. Always trying to improve lives, she worked as an office assistant for the Idaho Migrant Council, fed hungry students at the College of Southern Idaho and I.B. Perrine Elementary School, then moved to the YMCA where she helped build positive self-esteem of every member. Her final career move was just as rewarding as her previous endeavors, and she was integral to the Customer Service team at Norco. All those who knew Barbara would agree that she was the brightest light at any function and her “cackle” will live forever in our hearts.
Barbara was preceded in death by her father Mike Valdez, of Monte Vista, Colorado; we are certain they have already met up high in the sky. Barbara loved spending time with her kids and later in life, her dogs: Maya, Lexie, and Chloe. She loved camping, spending time in her craft room, or simply having a girls day out. One of her new loves was watching Breaking Bad with her daughter Alex. She also enjoyed Facetiming with her princess, Miyah. A close friend said, “Alex was her (Barbara) rock, and Miyah was her strength.” What she didn’t know was SHE was our rock and our strength.
Barbara is survived by her spouse, Tony Sanchez, her mother, Virginia Galindo, her sisters: Abby Montano and Ginger Valdez, her step-mother: Retha Valdez her children: Adriana (Leah) Dow-Sanchez, “little” Tony (Lin Razo) Sanchez, and Alex Sanchez, grandchildren: Jalen Dow, Langdon Wolfe, and the love of her life, Miyah Dow-Sanchez. In addition to her immediate family she is survived by the great Valdez and Sanchez Familia.
Services for Barbara will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at Rosenau Funeral Home at 4pm. In lieu of flowers the family is asking to donate money to the Barbara Sanchez Scholarship for Latina women to pursue higher education.
