Alice was born on March 23, 1924, in Lehi, Utah in her maternal grandmother’s front room. But that was only a brief visit to Utah by Alice with her mother, Ella Randall, for Alice lived the rest of her life in Idaho: Shoshone, Rogerson, Pocatello (where she married Emmett Whitaker and raised her two children (Steven and Joan), then they moved to Boise (where she and Emmett continued living and Alice worked for Farm Bureau until her retirement in 1986. She lived most of her 90s with her daughter, Joan and son-in-law John Kauffman in Twin Falls until her death at 99 plus years.
Alice and Emmett spent their summers camping and after her retirement they became camp hosts in the Wood River and Stanley Valleys. They especially enjoyed their years as camp hosts at Alturas Lake.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ella and Edward Randall, her three brothers: Jack, George and Robert, and her husband of 63 years, Emmett. Alice also lost her oldest grandchild, Jeff Kauffman (LaNae) in 2007, and her great grandson, Riyle Kauffman in 2022.
She is survived by her son, Steven Whitaker and his wife, Cynthia, of Nampa, her granddaughter Stephanie, (Donnie), great granddaughter Sierra (Kyle) great-great grandson, Kyle, Jr, and great grandson, Joshua (Serena)
She is also survived by her daughter, Joan Kauffman and her husband, John, their son, Joseph Kauffman, daughter-in-law, LaNae, and their grandchildren: Desiree Trammell (Tylor), Bendon Kauffman and Ashton Kauffman.
At Alice’s request there will be no service, but after cremation she wishes her ashes to be strewn in a special place above Alturus Lake where her husband’s ashes and her grandson’s ashes were also placed.
